Marina started her concert season
in Slovenia on September 22nd,
with a Chopin recital at the Gewerkeneg
Castle in Idrija. Organized
by the local music school this was a Memorial Concert for the 10th death
anniversary of Professor Emerita Hilda Horak, her mother. The epilogue of the
whole series dedicated to her memory was in Kamnik on October 6th, with a Chopin
programme for young audience. On November 11th she gave a lecture titled »On sound, silence and listening - psychological implications in music teaching« at the annual EPTA conference of Slovenia in Sežana, which the audience - pianists, pedagogues and students - received with storming applause. Next day she flew to London, in order to play a recital titled "The Wealth of Slovenia's Piano Music" for EPTA UK (London West) on November 13th. On November 17th she appeared at the Gala Award Ceremony of the newspaper Finance in Portorož together with Bulgarian soprano Irina Haralampieva performing a popular programme of operatic arias by Verdi, Puccini and Johann Strauss. On December 29th there was a New Year's Musical Salon together with Russian violinist Vasilij Meljnikov, with a programme of Mozart Sonatas, Brahms, Debussy, Matičič and Schnittke. Listening guests expressed their wish to have many more such evenings. The year 2006 commenced musically speaking on January 28th in Dubrovnik, the venue of the recital being the concert hall of the Artistic School "Sorkočević" and the organizer Slovenian Cultural society LIPA. Croatian national TV broadcast an interview and part of the concert with works by Mozart, Matičič, Škerjanc and Franck. On February 1st Marina and Dubrovnik-based pianist Ivana Marija Vidović (with guests) presented a charming evening of poetry and music called Bridge of music and words. Ivana's Croatian poems (translated into Slovenian by Marina) and music for piano four-hands by Mozart, Debussy and Rojko was the mainstay of the programme. Both events were part of the Dubrovnik Feast of St. Blasius as well as a celebration of Slovenian Cultural Day. After returning home, on February 10th Marina recorded a programme of pieces for young players (Divertimento by M. Kozina and Pieces for Youth by P. Kalan) for the RTV Slovenija archives. |
